Married couples struggling to have children could soon benefit from a draft law approved by the UAE’s Federal National Council (FNC).
The new legislation allows human embryos to be frozen, which means it will be a lot easier for patients to seek advanced infertility treatment in the Emirates.
It also aims to strengthen the licencing, monitoring and inspection process for healthcare facilities offering medically-assisted reproduction services.
The bill has to be cleared by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan before it's officially implemented.
Dr Diana Kayal Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Bourn Hall Fertility Clinic says it'll greatly reduce the cost for parents trying to start a family.
