The UAE has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and has urged access for humanitarian aid following the serious flood crisis.
It comes as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and dam.
In a statement to the UN Security Council, the UAE's Deputy Permanent Representative, Mohamed Abushahab, expressed the ecological, humanitarian, and nuclear risks the disaster poses.
He stressed that ending hostilities is vital to prevent further harm and a potential nuclear disaster.
The flooding has already forced 16,000 people, including many children and elderly, to evacuate, with 40 villages partially or entirely underwater.
The destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam has created an ecological, humanitarian, and nuclear safety risk.
