Dubai Police

Two tourists have been airlifted to safety after being stranded in the mountains of Hatta's Wadi Al Dahab area.

The tourists from Australia and Britain, who were part of a five-member trekking group, were unable to climb down the mountain in the dark due to severe exhaustion.

Rescue teams from Dubai Police and the National Center for Search and Rescue were dispatched after they were alerted about the incident at 3:45 pm on Friday.

They used drones with thermal cameras to locate the missing tourists and speed up the rescue effort before night fall.

The tourists have been shifted to nearby hospitals for medical care.

The officials have urged the public to avoid dangerous terrains and follow safety measures when trekking.
