Face-to-face lessons will continue in Sharjah's private schools, nurseries and institutes when they reopen on January 3.

Staff and students aged 12 and above will be required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result received within 96 hours.

The decision was announced by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) in coordination with the emirate's Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.

The SPEA added that all extracurricular activities, morning assembly and school trips will be suspended until further notice.

It also urged all school staff to take the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has earlier confirmed that face-to-face lessons will continue in private schools when the second semester begins on January 3.

However, public schools in the UAE will shift to distance learning for the first two weeks of the second semester, and so will private schools in Abu Dhabi.
