The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre to advance environmental and climate sustainability efforts in the UAE.

The collaboration will focus on enhancing environmental data management and geospatial mapping systems to support decision-making and improve the development of environmental policies.

The MoU, signed at the MOCCAE headquarters in Dubai, enables the two entities to leverage cutting-edge space technology and geospatial data to monitor key environmental factors such as air quality, wildlife, marine life, and seawater quality.

The partnership will provide real-time, comprehensive data that will help inform policies aimed at achieving the UAE’s climate goals, including reaching Net Zero by 2050.

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and other senior officials from both organisations were present at the signing ceremony. Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of MOCCAE, emphasised the role of innovative technologies in improving operational efficiency and driving sustainable initiatives in sectors like food security, climate change, and biodiversity.

This partnership is expected to significantly enhance the UAE’s environmental data capabilities, using satellite imagery and advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to monitor and manage the nation's environmental resources more effectively.
