Dubai's Drugs Control Council is going to be closely monitoring the so-called Dark Web.

Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai and Head of the Drugs Control Council, said more observation of unauthorised internet activity is needed to prevent illicit deals.

Meeting remotely on Wednesday, the Council discussed ways of monitoring substances listed in banned chemical lists, to deter health practitioners from narcotics violations.

It also reviewed the outcomes of the "Drug Control Joint Initiative" for the first half of 2020 as well as a framework for preventing the use of psychotropics.

In addition, the council assessed the results of the National Anti-Narcotics Strategy's performance indicators and issued several recommendations.
