Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a major expansion of Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop, increasing its parking capacity from 40 to 175 slots.

This upgrade is part of efforts to improve land freight operations, enhance services for truck drivers, and boost road safety across the city.

Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop, located near key highways like Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, is one of a network of strategically placed rest stops designed to offer a well-equipped and convenient resting environment for heavy vehicle drivers.

The stop includes amenities such as a prayer room, restrooms, a diesel refuelling station, and workshops for maintenance and tyre replacement.

Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Director of Traffic at the Traffic & Roads Agency, said the expansion is part of the RTA’s strategy to improve infrastructure for heavy vehicles, ensuring smooth traffic flow, safety, and a comfortable environment for drivers, especially for those coming from Ras Al Khor Road or travelling from Emirates Road towards Sharjah.

He added that such rest stops play a critical role in reducing truck-related accidents, improving traffic flow during truck movement restrictions, and minimising random parking of heavy vehicles on main roads.
