A store in Dubai has been fined AED 50,000 for violating COVID-19 safety measures during a sale.

The Dubai Economy summoned the management of the store for failing to comply with the physical distancing guideline, after it witnessed "visitors thronging the store, (and) ignoring the risk of physical contact".

The authority emphasized that outlets as well as their customers must adhere to the rules, specifically during promotional campaigns.

They added that inspectors from the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector will continue to monitor businesses and commercial centres to safeguard public health and enable business continuity.

Dubai Economy also called on consumers to report any violations via the Dubai Consumer App or by calling 600545555, or by logging on to their website.
