Ramadan tents and Iftar gatherings have been banned in Ras Al Khaimah.

It's part of efforts by the authorities to protect public health and limit the spread of coronavirus.

Distribution of iftar meals at or in front of restaurants or private homes have also been prohibited.

Exception will be made for labour accommodations, with Ras Al Khaimah Police stressing that the meals must be packed in "boxes or bags that are tightly closed".

The authority added that "those who wish to give Iftar meals should coordinate with the charitable organisations in the country, or contract with a restaurant".

Moreover, restaurants will be allowed to serve regular meals while following COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Those found violating the rules will face legal actions, the authority added.
