Chelsea suffered a seventh defeat from 12 Premier League games, as Marko Arnautovic gave Stoke a 1-0 win at the Brittania. United broke through a stubborn Baggies defence on 52 minutes, with the young winger Jesse Lingard curling in from the edge of the area. Juan Mata then converted a penalty in stoppage time, after Gareth McAuley fouled Anthony Martial.Louis van Gaal’s men remain in 4th, just behind Leicester, who continued their remarkable campaign so far with a 2-1 defeat of Watford, in which Jamie Vardy scored for a ninth consecutive game.Elsewhere, Newcastle’s 1-0 win at Bournemouth moved them out of the relegation zone at their opponent’s expense, West Ham and Everton shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Upton Park, Norwich claimed a crucial 1-0 home win over Swansea, and Southampton took all three points from their trip to Sunderland, thanks to a penalty by Dusan Tadic.
