Neymar requires surgery after tearing ACL on international duty

Al-Hilal forward Neymar is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus during Brazil's 2-0 defeat to Uruguay on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old will undergo surgery after being stretchered off, in tears, just before half time, in the World Cup qualifying match.

The Brazilian now will miss a number of crucial games for Al Hilal, who currently sit top of the Saudi Pro League.

Brazil's all-time top goal scorer is expected to be out for up to two months as he recovers from the injury.

It's the latest in a string of set-backs for the attacker who also spent months on the sidelines for previous club PSG caused by a number of ankle problems. Neymar also missed two World Cup games in Qatar last year due to injury.
