'Puppy Mountain' becomes surprise tourism hotspot

Via X

A mountain in China has become an unlikely hit with tourists after eagle-eyed visitors noticed it resembles the face of a dog.

The mountain in Yicang in central China's Hubei province is experiencing a boom in tourism after a photo of the spot went viral on social media.

Holidaymaker Guo Qinshan posted a snap of the location after noticing the site looked like the head of a puppy, and within days the post had chalked up 120,000 likes on Weibo, drawing millions of views.

Located along the longest river in China - and the third longest in the world - the rock face can be viewed from an observation desk situated opposite the new viral landmark.

Since becoming a viral sensation tourists have been flocking to the mountain, often with their dog, to take holiday photos with the hashtag #xiaogoushan, which is Chinese for 'puppy mountain.'
