Four mayors in Turkey have been removed from their posts following a government crackdown against pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party.

They have been replaced by state appointees.

It brings the number of mayors who have been dismissed on similar grounds to 24.

President Tayyip Erdogan and his government accuse the HDP of having links to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group, which the party denies.

It comes as Turkish troops carry out a military offensive in Syria against the Kurdish YPG militia.
