Hollywood heavyweight Steve Harvey applauded the UAE as a country of possibilities as he addressed fans at Expo 2020 Dubai's Al Wasl Plaza.

Praising the international collaboration of Expo 2020 Dubai as a testament to what the world can achieve, Steve Harvey said: "(Expo 2020 Dubai) exposes this place to the world. But then at the same time, it exposes the whole world to each other. At Expo you get to go to all these different pavilions and maybe experience a culture that you wouldn't normally get to see. So you can go to different countries in different continents, without having to get on an aeroplane, and meet people and learn about food and their cultural, their ideas, their faiths and all.

"I just think it is a great way to bring the world together. I mean, we need that now. You know, we got so much trouble out here in the world. It's kind of good to have a piece and when you can see … This is really how the world is supposed to be."

Harvey has been a regular visitor to the UAE for more than a decade, and recently started MELT, a vehicle for aspiring regional entrepreneurs and talent to create concepts and have their work globally recognised through possible celebrity partnerships and endorsements.

"Opening the company here was really smart because the UAE is becoming more of a global centre. It's where people come from everywhere."

His message on International Day of Happiness was one of hope. "A lot of people are struggling with what happened to them in the pandemic … They were alone, they lost their job, they lost loved ones. But can I tell you something? You made it… Life is not easy… Keep a smile on your face, keep your faith, keep moving, man, and be grateful you still here [sic]."
