Rod Stewart knighted in Queen's annual Birthday Honours List

Musician Rod Stewart has been knighted by Queen Elizabeth as part of her annual Birthday Honours List. The Maggie May star, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000, was honoured for services to music and charity. Downtown Abbey actress Penelope Wilton also became a dame in the honours' list while its producer Gareth Neame was made an OBE.
