Matthew McConaughey has spoken out about why he decided to walk away from acting for two years saying he wanted to try things outside of romantic comedy.
During a recent interview McConaughey said, "I wanted to try some other stuff... of course I wasn’t getting it, so I had to leave Hollywood for two years.”
The star said that the break was scary and he even considered going into high school teaching or becoming a wildlife guide.
Following his break from the big screen the actor returned in 2011 to star in The Lincoln Lawyer, followed by other roles in Killer Joe, Bernie and Magic Mike.
McConaughey won an Oscar for Best Actor in 2014 for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.
