Sharjah International Airport saw remarkable growth in 2024, welcoming over 17.1 million passengers, marking an 11.4% increase from 2023.

The airport also recorded a significant rise in flights, with a total of 107,760, a 9.5% growth compared to the previous year.

Cargo operations hit new heights, with volumes growing by 38.6%, reaching nearly 196,000 tonnes, and 14,000 tonnes handled through sea-air cargo operations, further establishing the airport as a key logistics hub.

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, attributed these achievements to the airport’s commitment to top-tier service and innovative travel experiences, aligning with its goal to accommodate 25 million passengers annually by 2027.

He also emphasized ongoing improvements to airport facilities and sustainability initiatives.

The airport’s expansion in passenger services included seven new destinations, such as direct Air Arabia flights to Warsaw, Krakow, Athens, Vienna and Malé, along with Fly Oya's direct flights to and from Tripoli, Libya.

In 2024, the number of international airlines operating through Sharjah Airport increased, connecting passengers to over 100 global destinations.

Six new airlines began operating flights via Sharjah, including Fly Jinnah from Pakistan, UR Airlines from Iraq, Fly Oya from Libya, AJet from Türkiye, Flynas from Saudi Arabia, and Iraqi Airways.

In line with Sharjah’s food security goals, the airport also supported the import of 2,200 cattle for the Mleiha Dairy Farm project, reflecting its role in critical logistical operations.
